Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to secure a case of this high quality, flagship Chardonnay. A wine worthy of any secret agent’s cellar supply this is a Triple Five Star Chardonnay with all the trimmings, normally retailing for around the $35 mark and now a snip under $30.

Named after the former spy bases located next door to the winery down there in Marlborough’s Southern Valley the Envoy range is Spy Valley’s flagship series.

This is Spy’s top Chardonnay using hand picked fruit from selected rows of vines from vineyards in Marlborough’s Waihopai Valley and Omaka Valley sub regions with vine age ranging between 1998-2005.

Scoring 5 Stars with Michael Cooper who said “This elegant, tightly structured wine is estate-grown in the Waihopai Valley, hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged in French oak barriques (mostly seasoned) for up to 20 months. The distinctive 2017 vintage (5*) is approaching its peak. Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouthfilling, with deep stonefruit flavours, gently seasoned with toasty oak, slightly buttery notes, excellent complexity, fresh acidity and a finely balanced finish.”

This wine will not self destruct in five seconds but we do recommend enjoying it up to 2027.
