Te Mata Estate Zara Viognier – one of NZ’s classiest examples of this wickedly delicious aromatic white. Viognier (pronounced vee-on-yay) is a soft, rich and exotic white that hails from the Rhone Valley in France.
Named after the granddaughter of Te Mata’s owner, John Buck. Once upon a time you would’ve caught little Zara running around the vineyard and playing among the vines.
This is their latest 2019 release and yet again it’s bang on!
If we had our way there’d be a whole lot more of this style being made. They’ll tell you it’s got flavours of turkish delight, lemon honey, marzipan, peach and jasmine. We simply say it’s a totally yummo luscious, rich white! And a luscious rich white needs rich white meat and seafood dishes to go with it – or even spicy Asian cuisine. Or just enjoy it by itself, you won’t regret it.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
