Made by one of the Rhone Valley’s most renowned producers, Gabriel Meffre. He has a secret ingredient in producing this Cotes-du-Rhone – pudding stones! Or as the French call ’em, “Les Galets”.
Before you get too excited we should point out Les Galets are little smooth pebbles that are found in the vineyards (although apparently some people reckon they look like little Christmas puddings, aka the name!). They do a great job of storing and reflecting the sun’s heat on to the vines and help produce grapes full of rich, concentrated flavour.
Using the classic Cotes du Rhone grape varieties of Grenach, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvedre this is a great example why this world famous red is loved by so many – medium bodied, juicy, succulent style red with a touch of dark, spicy fruit flavours.
Drink between now and 2025 with pretty much any slab of grilled red meat or a cheese platter.
