Consistently consistent. That’s how the crew at Penny’s Hill describe their Black Chook Shiraz. That’s because since the very first vintage of this McLaren Vale Shiraz in 2003 it’s received a 90+ point score from international critics, scribblers and publications like The Wine Advocate, The International Wine Cellar and James Suckling.
The Mediterranean climate of the McLaren Vale (hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters) make it ideal for producing bloody good Shiraz.
This is 96% McLaren Vale Shiraz with a 4% splash of the aromatic white variety Viognier (vee-on-yay) which adds a vibrant, aromatic lift to the wine. Given 12 months in oak before release this is your classic McLaren Vale Shiraz in a glass – soft, rich, full flavoured red with loads of red berry and cherry flavours, vanilla and spice.
Pair it with a wide range of red meats. Or good old roast chook!
