You’ll find the Three Miners vineyard between Alexandra and the historic gold mining village of Clyde down there in Central Otago, where way back in the 1860’s their soils were mined for gold.
These days owned by husband and wife team Paul and Kirsten Wright, they soon cottoned on to the fact that there’s no gold in ‘dem ‘der hills and have resorted to a modern day equivalent of mining for gold, growing damn good Central Otago wine and winning gold of a different kind!
Rock a bye baby. Well, almost. The Rocker Box was a cradle of a different kind – helping miners to wash and trap alluvial gold by pouring water over sand and silt at the top of a sloping box.
We can’t image many miners sippin’ on a glass of chilled Rosé at the end of a hard day’s work. If only they knew what they were missing out on – vibrant, juicy summer berry fruit flavours and a dry finish. A class act!
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
