Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin – also known as Madame Clicquot, Widow Clicquot and Veuve Clicquot (Veuve means ‘Widow’ in French). This legendary woman took over her husband’s wine business when she became a widow aged just 27 and from there helped turn this world wide Champagne juggernaut into what it is today.
Clicquot have been crafting classy Champagne for long enough to know that good things take time. It’s why they launched the Clicquot series Extra Brut Extra Old.
Using old reserve wines from eight vintages (1990, 1998, 1999, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2013 and 2014) it undergoes a double-ageing process spending 2 years in vats, 3 more years in bottle. The blend of rich and complex wines means they can have an exceptionally low 3 grams of sugar per litre – this is bone-dry but has an incredible depth of freshness, flavour and intensity!
An incredible Champagne to drink now but Clicquot’s cellar master reckons you could go Extra Extra Old and cellar this for a further 15 years. Presented in a stylish Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old gift box and delivered anywhere in New Zealand with your personal gift message.
