This is the absolutely striking limited edition artist series of Veuve Clicquot’s iconic La Grande Dame by iconic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
“La Grande Dame – a middle-aged or elderly woman who is stylish and highly respected”
And let’s face it, it wouldn’t quite have the same appeal if it was called “Barbe-Nicole”.
But it is Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin that this wine is named after. She also went by the name of Madame Clicquot, Widow Clicquot and Veuve Clicquot (Veuve means ‘Widow’ in French). This legendary woman took over her husband’s wine business when she became a widow aged just 27 and from there helped turn this world wide Champagne juggernaut into what it is today.
This very special vintaged Champagne is named in honour of her. Produced two-thirds using Pinot Noir grapes, aged a minimum eight years in chalk cellars and only produced in exceptional years.
Comes presented in a gift box so chic only Veuve could pull it off.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
