Vilarnau are a small, artisan Cava producer with a state of the art winery just outside Barcelona. Cava is Spanish sparkling wine we call Methode Traditionelle here in NZ – it’s made the same way as Champagne.
Cava is to Spain what Methode is to NZ, what Prosecco is to Italy and what Champagne is to France. When there’s a reason to party in Spain they’re poppin’ the corks out of Cava!
Vilarnau have been producing this style of Spanish fizz since 1949 but back in the 1980s joined the Gonzalez Byass wine group.
Cava is the only wine they produce so they know a thing or two about it! Using the traditional grapes of Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay every bottle is aged for 15 months in bottle before release.
Serve nicely chilled and serve with fish, seafood and white meats.
