They’re New Zealand’s most awarded and trusted winery so you can rest assure anything from Villa’s “Single Vineyard” range is pretty slick stuff.
Their Villa Maria Single Vineyard Seddon Pinot Gris is a wine that regularly throws its hat in the ring for one of the top Pinot Gris labels you’ll find anywhere in NZ. A richer and more textural style Pinot Gris with a dry finish – it’s a class act and definitely the style we prefer when we go Gris.
This latest 2022 vintage certainly got top wine writer Michael Cooper pretty excited, calling it “One of the country’s top Pinot Gris.”
Coops went on to say “One of the country’s top Pinot Gris, this Awatere Valley wine is estate-grown and partly barrel-fermented. The 2022 vintage (4.5*) is still unfolding. Bright, light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and vibrant, with strong, youthful peach, pear and lychee flavours, fractional sweetness, fresh acidity and a finely poised, lingering finish. Best drinking 2025+.”
And to summarise how did he describe this wine? “This wine is a Classic.”
