Every once in a while it’s good to just let your hair down and go wild.
From a Central Otago producer just as wild about making world class wine as they are firing up their legendary “French Oak Pinot Noir wine barrel cookers” and serving up a mean feed to go with it!
This is their 2023 release Pinot Gris and if you’re familiar with quality Central style Gris you’ll be all over this. Dry in style but with plenty of weight and texture and pear, peach and apple fruit flavours.
Scoring 5 Stars with Michael Cooper who said “The impressive 2023 vintage (5*) was grown at Bendigo (60 per cent) and Bannockburn (40 per cent), and fermented in old oak barrels. Bright, light lemon/green, it has an attractively scented bouquet. Mouthfilling, it is vibrant, with concentrated, ripe, stonefruit flavours, showing real complexity, a slightly oily texture, and a very harmonious, lingering, dry (3.8 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Well worth cellaring to 2025+.”
