Wooing – To seek the affection of with intent to romance.
Basically they say that half of Cromwell was conceived under the famous wooing tree in the small Otago town!
And you’ll fall in love with this Central Otago Pinot Gris that oozes class. Wooing Tree are world famous in New Zealand for their amazing Pinot Noir and Beetlejuice Pinot Noir and Blondie (also made from Pinot) – but have you tried their Pinot Gris?
In their own words it’s all “ripe pear, brioche, honeysuckle, white peach, spice and a hint of salted caramel“.
And if that doesn’t get you Gris lovers quivering at the knees, how about Master of Wine Stephen Wong’s 92/100 review? Stephen said “Here is one for those with a sweeter tooth. At just under 10 grams per litre of residual sugar, this style is getting less common in New Zealand as more wines tend to be balanced closer to the 4-6 gram range. Despite this, the wine has plenty of concentration and the sweetness is not there to hide anything. When done well, it can be very good! Juicy and decadent, made in a sweeter style, it will develop in the mid-term, revealing more savoury complexity with time”
