THE T’s AND C’s
We’re a responsible retailer of online liquor and we take our legal obligations seriously. Please take a minute to read everything below.
REALLY IMPORTANT LEGAL BITS
It’s illegal for us to sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. It’s also illegal for you to buy alcohol if you’re under the age of 18, even if you’re buying as a gift for someone else.
It’s illegal for you to falsely declare your age if you are under the age of 18 in order to buy alcohol from us. In accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 this is an offence liable on conviction to a fine of up to $2,000. It’s pretty simple – if you’re under 18 you’re not allowed to shop with us.
Only persons aged 18 years and older are able to sign and receive orders from us. This is in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. If you’re lucky enough to look under the age of 25 the courier will ask to see valid ID. If the receiver is under the age of 18 or does not have valid ID the parcel will be returned to the depot for further instruction.
By submitting an order with us and agreeing to the Terms & Conditions you’re confirming that you (the buyer) and the receiver is aged 18 years or older and legally allowed to buy alcohol in New Zealand
The Good Wine Company is a trading name for Fifty Three Group Limited and trades under Liquor License number 007/OFF/5/2024.
Drinking wine is enjoyable, but not when you over do it. Please be safe, drink responsibly and look after your friends and family.
PRICES & TAXES
All of the prices you see on our website are inclusive of GST and always quoted in the mighty NZ dollar. We don’t believe in a single bottle surcharge so we offer one great price, whether you buy one bottle or 12.
DELIVERY INFORMATION
You’ll find everything you need to know about our delivery service on the delivery page. But there are a few things you need to take note of below.
We use our mates at NZ Couriers to deliver your wine. They deliver on standard working days only (Monday to Friday), Saturday deliveries are available to some parts of the country so please get in touch if you’d like to arrange this. It’ll cost an extra $10 to get the courier out of bed on a Saturday morning and we’ll need your order confirmed by Friday morning at the latest.
If you’re not there when the driver makes the delivery he or she will leave a calling card for you – except for Rural Deliveries. Follow the instructions on the card to arrange re-delivery or to collect your wine from their depot if you’d prefer.
When placing your order you can leave instructions for the driver to leave the wine in a safe place (for example by the back door, with the neighbours or in the garden shed) – just use the “Delivery Instructions” box at the checkout. Please remember though that we’re not insured if the wine goes missing after you have given authority to leave. Please also note drivers are unable to guarantee any text or phone call requests. For Rural Deliveries, a signature is not required. If you are Rural Delivery and require a signature you may wish to have your parcel delivered to the nearest NZ Couriers Collection Point
PAYMENT OPTIONS
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners in our secure online checkout. You can also pay via Google Pay and Apple Pay for a quicker checkout experience. We can also take payment by direct bank transfer at the checkout via A2A (Account 2 Account), available for most of the major banks in NZ.
RETURNS POLICY
Our returns policy is simple and fair and we offer exactly what we expect when we shop online.

For issues with non-delivery (ie. delivery hasn’t been made or made to an incorrect address) please advise us within 12 days of your order being dispatched.
If you’re disappointed with the wine or think a wine is corked or tainted we’ll replace it and/or collect any unopened bottles for a refund. Please let us know within 30 days of your purchase and applies to deliveries within NZ only. Please note if your address is classed as Rural Delivery there is no courier collection service for returns, the items will need to be dropped off to your nearest courier rural agent.
INSURANCE & COVERAGE
All of the goods we send are insured up to the point of delivery. We’re not covered for any goods that are damaged or stolen after being delivered.
OUT OF STOCKS

PRIVACY POLICY
We know that entering personal information on the internet can be a worrying thing for many, which is why we treat your privacy seriously. Rest assured that any details you submit, either for orders or to join our mailing list, are stored safely and will never be sold or distributed to third parties.
Our system will securely remember your address and contact details to save time on future orders, but we will never store your credit card details unless you ask us to. If you don’t already have your details registered with us, this will happen automatically after placing your first order with us.
If you join our mailing list you can expect an occasional e-newsletter from us with some kick arse wine deals. You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time using the link at the bottom of the email or by contacting us.
YOUR SECURITY
Processing your credit card details safely and securely is top priority for us. We put into practice what we expect when we go online shopping.
We use the best in the business to process your transactions, Windcave (formerly known as Payment Express), who offer a secure payment gateway.
Our payment gateway is PCI DSS compliant (that stands for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) – essentially a set of comprehensive requirements set by the major card issues Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
The Good Wine Co doesn’t see or hold your credit card details. We’re shown the first six and last two digits of your number purely to identify your order before we can send the goods.
For those of you who are enrolled our site also offers the additional security of “3D Secure” via the Verified By Visa and Mastercard Securecode schemes. If you’re enrolled for this with your bank it will require you to enter a password as an additional step when making a payment.
Now the technical stuff. Any personal information you submit is securely transferred using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) data encryption. The information submitted is encrypted using a special certificate key and then decrypted with another key after it has been transmitted. When you access parts of our site secured with SSL (the payment screen) a symbol displays in your browser window indicating that the site is secure (usually a little locked padlock symbol).
