When Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon said “I do” back in 1818 – the Champagne flowed! And, with a bit of help from Louis Salmon (brother of Elisabeth and a passionate oenologist), it’s carried on flowing in the Billecart-Salmon family for over 7 generations and now over 200 years! In fact, Billecart-Salmon is one of the few prestigious Champagne houses still owned by the original family.
This is the Billecart Salmon Champagne Brut Reserve and is a blend of three different vintages. Being under family ownership gives them 100% control over production and a meticulous attention to detail to produce some seriously world class Champagne.
In 2018 Mathieu Roland Billecart took over the reigns of the family ‘biz and one of the first calls he made was to age their flagship Brut Reserve for a further 6 months minimum in the cellars before disgorgement. That’s more than double the required time for aging non vintage wines in Champagne!
Due to the patience in the cellar and a sky high global demand for the wine stocks are extremely limited for the NZ market. Grab yours while you can!
