2024 Winery of the Year – James Halliday’s Wine Companion – “There’s an argument to say that the Bleasdale winery, both historically and most certainly at the hand of winemaker Paul Hotker, should be regarded as every Australian wine lover’s best friend.”

We’re guessing the crew at Bleasdale probably had a bit of a wild party and a few wild jigs on the table when the news came through they’d won the coveted Winery of the Year Award with James Halliday’s Wine Companion.

And on top of that this insanely good value Wild Fig red blend has scooped THREE Gold medals! This label is no stranger to success on the podium with the 2018 vintage winning one of the most prestigious awards in the Australian wine industry – the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. Specifically, their Wild Fig 2018 won the “Trophy for the Best One or Two-Year-Old Red Wine.” AND it was the first ever blend to win the award!

SGM. GSM. MCG. SCG. What’s it all about? Well two of those are cricket grounds and two are famous red wine blends. The SGM is Shiraz (67%) Grenache (23%) and a splash of Mourvedre (10%). Three classic grape varieties used to produce this gorgeously spicy and aromatic, generous and silky style Aussie red.

Made by the first established winery in the Langhorne Creek area, they named this one after the wild fig trees that grow on the banks of the Bremer River that passes through the Bleasdate estate. Drink now to 2028 and pair with pretty much any flame grilled slab of sizzling red meat coming off the BBQ – steak, lamb, pork or chicken.
