Church Road Chardonnay is a regular star in Michael Cooper’s “Wine Buyer’s Guide” – think of it like the annual bible that wine lovers religiously flock to for guidance of good slurping for the year ahead.
Coops lists “25 Not-to-be-missed New Zealand Wines” and he picked this label in that incredible list of great wines and great value wines that consistently deliver the goods, year in year out.
He calls it “the best-value Chardonnay on the market, especially on special“. Church Road head wine honcho Chris Scott and his team simply have a gift when it comes to Chardonnay, especially when their cheaper labels are picking up such massive praise like that!
Scott calls it “unashamedly just a little bit old school” while the Coopers went on to call it “citrusy, peachy, slightly buttery…showing very good depth and complexity.”
For the best food match we reckon pair this style with white meats and seafood, especially with light, creamy sauces.
