From an area in north-east Spain called Campo de Borja – winemaking’s been happening in this neck of the woods since the 12th century when Cistercian Monks first started planting vines.

A few vintages have flown by since those days of borderline drinkable Monk wine! These days you can lay your mits on some extremely approachable, modern style Spanish reds at very modest prices.

This is a blend of Spain’s two most famous grapes – Garnacha (also called Grenache) and Tempranillo, using fruit from old 30-40 year old vines. The word “Crianza” slapped on the bottle means according to strict Spanish wine laws the wine has to be aged for at least two years including six months in oak (they gave this a total of eight months).

What you get is some high quality, every day drinking style red that hasn’t gone over the top with the use of oak. Medium bodied with loads of juicy fruit flavours, a touch of spice and super smooth tannins. Find out why Wine Enthusiast magazine has previously called this label the “the Holy Trinity of internationally friendly value wines“.
