We call him Mr Misty Cove but his real name’s Andrew. The Misty Cove label is the hard graft of southern man Andrew and his whanau who cover every base in their boutique wine business. From the wine making and vineyard work, to sales and marketing. A true 100% family owned and operated Kiwi wine business if we ever saw one!
Andrew’s not interested in bourgeois BS when it comes to wine making. “Good wine for good times” as he puts it.
This is Misty’s Gruner Veltliner. Gru-what? It’s grew-ner velt-lee-ner but you can call it Gru-vee for short. Gru-vee’s a grape native to Austria but in the last few years a few NZ winemakers have started dabbling with the variety.
A medium bodied, spicy, mouth filling white with stone fruit flavours and a dry finish. It’s bagged a 5 Star write up by Sam Kim, who was loving all its “rockmelon, apricot, Gala apple and rich floral aromas, leading to a wonderfully flavoursome palate that’s both generous and elegant. Silky, flowing and textural with juicy acidity, making it splendidly appealing. “
It’s classy stuff for the money.
