Roaring Meg Pinot Gris is the secondary label of Central Otago’s Mt.Difficulty and named after a local stream. Far out, not another wine named after a bloody stream, river or tree! In fact this stream and the one that neighbours it, Gentle Annie, actually get their name from two young ladies that “serviced” the area back in the late 1800s when gold mining in Central Otago was thriving.
Young men headed to the region in search of fortune – Meg and Annie were two ladies of the night that provided the guys with an after hours service! Roaring Meg, what a nickname. Need we say more?
Roaring Meg Pinot Gris is off dry in style – a touch of sweetness, a lick of spice, balanced perfectly. Best enjoyed over the next four years and a perfect partner to Asian cuisine.
