NZ’s No.1 rated Pinot Gris in Cuisine magazine’s annual Pinot Gris tasting! One sip and you’ll be head over heels – this is simply delicious!
Made by Nautilus Estate this is a label punching WELL above its weight for a supposed secondary label…
5 Stars, Best Buy & No.1 NZ Pinot Gris (Cuisine magazine 2024)
“An absolute standout… It’s fresh and bright with a creamy texture that adds weight and length.”
90/100 & Top Value Award (Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review)
“Light, refreshing wine in an off-dry style with ginger, apricot, poached pear and quince flavours supported by fresh acidity and fine, peppery tannins.”
4 1/2 Stars (Michael Cooper)
“Grown in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, this good, all-purpose wine is made in a ‘lighter, crisper’ style than its Nautilus Estate stablemate. Tank-fermented and briefly lees-aged, the 2023 vintage (4.5*) is attractively scented, mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with good intensity of peach, pear and spice flavours, balanced acidity and a finely balanced, dryish, lingering finish. Already delicious, it should be at its best mid-2024+.”
Gold medal (Marlborough Wine Show 2023)
Opawa means ‘Smoky River’ in Maori with the Opawa vineyard planted on the historic riverbed of the Opawa river. Being an old riverbed the arid and stony soil means those grapevines have to work their arses off to find water and nutrients deep in the soil. The result? Grapes full of intense flavour and complexity.
This is banging value for money Marlborough Pinot Gris made in an off-dry style – lush peach, pear and stonefruit and spice flavours with a long, dry finish. A killer wine to pair to spicy Asian cuisine.
