Two Rivers. One bloody good wine and winemaker.
Dave Clouston’s your man and he grew up on the banks of the Awatere and Wairau Rivers, thus the name Two Rivers. He’s labelled this one “Clos des Pierres”. Probably because it means “place of stones” and the extremely stony soils found in the vineyard. Maybe also because Dave spent a bit of time in France so he likes to show off his fancy French lingo!
This is an elegant rather than heavy hitting style Chardonnay – but it’s bright yellow in colour and packing a heap of delicious stonefruit flavours and spicy oak. It’s a class act, there’s no doubt.
Say bon appetit with a chilled glass of this and white meat or fish dishes, or get the cheese board out and pair with hard or smoked cheeses.
