Vidal Reserve Chardonnay

Anthony Joseph Vidal was just 22 years young when he jumped off the ship from Spain way back in 1888. After purchasing a small section in Hawke’s Bay in 1905 he converted the stables that occupied the land into a wine cellar and hey presto – Vidal Estate was born!

We’ve knocked back a few decent Hawke’s Bay Chardonnays in our time and, for the money, this label rarely fails to deliver. As wine critic Michael Cooper calls it – “This middle-tier label is a consistently good buy.”

“This refined wine was grown in the Keltern Vineyard at Maraekakaho and Phoenix Vineyard, in the Tuki Tuki Valley. Partly barrel-fermented and aged on its yeast lees for nine months, it has vibrant, citrusy, peachy flavours gently seasoned with toasty oak, a hint of butterscotch and excellent delicacy and depth. Best drinking 2026+.”
